Technical Seminar at the SUHNER Group Application Center

On may 19. 2026 SUHNER invites you to a hands-on technical seminar on automated surface finishing and robot-assisted grinding.

At the SUHNER Group Application Center in Lupfig, you can experience modern automation solutions in action – with expert presentations, live demonstrations, real-world examples, and interactive challenges.

The focus is on SUHNER automation solutions, particularly the Electric Force Compliance System (EFCm-02) for precise force control in robot-assisted grinding.

Time: 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Look forward to an exciting day of seminars featuring the following topics and presentations:

Ivo Aschwanden from the IRZ (Industrial Robotics Lab Zurich)—a joint research group of ETH Zurich and inspire AG—will provide insights into current projects related to robot-assisted machining, precision measurement technology, and intelligent planning. Afterward, he will be available to answer questions from the audience.
In the presentation “Working Together with a Robot Colleague for the Perfect Surface”, SHL AG will show how successful collaboration between humans and robots can be implemented in surface finishing. He will also provide a concise overview of typical project workflows, current trends, and practical examples.
KUKA explains the key criteria for selecting the right robot—from technical requirements and applications to economic considerations.
MKN Torsten Thürnau’s presentation provides a brief overview of a client project and explains how and why the transition to automation was successful. He offers a practical account of the experiences gained during the process.
In the presentation “Process Optimization in Automated Grinding”, Klingspor will explain how the right abrasive can make automated grinding processes significantly more efficient while contributing to reproducible surfaces and stable processes.
CLOOS shows how automated welding solutions provide an important foundation for successful grinding processes and why the right preparation of welded assemblies is crucial for the final grinding result.
The seminar day will conclude with a tour of the SUHNER Group Application Center, offering insights into CNC toolholders, logistics solutions, and automated production solutions.
